SXSW 2023
Lifting Up Voices of People with IDD
Description:
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD are often not given space to speak for themselves. Historically, neurotypical people have made decisions for them and directed policy without consulting people with IDD. Through the use of cell phones, social media, and other easily-accessible technology, people with IDD are lifting their voices and creating more informed decisions with regard to their lives and policy. This meetup will give people with IDD a platform to discuss ways they can make self-directed, positive changes.
