Inquiry Mindset: Cultivating Student Agency
Description:
World renowned inquiry author Trevor MacKenzie facilitates this workshop to deepen inquiry understanding and impact the student experience. In this session we will define inquiry and the inquiry process as well as look at the body of research that examines the effectiveness of inquiry and Trevor's own research into identifying the barriers to implementing inquiry in the K-12 setting. We will unpack the Types of Student Inquiry with a lens on scaffolding to support student agency. We will explore the 10 Characteristics of the Inquiry Classroom and set personalized inquiry goals to guide teacher development. This session will also call on participants to embed co-design opportunities in their classroom to harness student voice and honour student choice.
