SXSW 2021
Soundtracks: Out of the Box
Description:
During the Covid pandemic, we've been glued to our TV screens more than ever. Music is vital to the TV experience; to create atmosphere, anticipation, and emotional connection. This panel will explore making music for screen during and beyond the Covid lockdowns, and how music is central to collective cultural connection and memory.
We explore the relationship between sound, vision, and memory, probing the different ways artists, composers, and music supervisors approach creating music for TV. Two UK composers Michael Price, (Sherlock, Dracula, Unforgotten), and Hannah Peel (The Deceived, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch doc), along with Small Axe music supervisor, Ed Bailie, will explore the world of TV music, offering tips and advice.
