SXSW 2021
What Can DNA Tell us About our Future?
Description:
During this session technologist, music artist and inventor LJ Rich (https://ljrich.wordpress.com/) will host a discussion between Dr Gordon Sanghera – visionary biotech leader, Dr Sarah Wallace – NASA scientist and Dr Reindert Nijland – ocean researcher.
Every living thing contains DNA, and understanding the ‘DNA sequence’ of those living things provides insights that are valuable in many ways. The panel will discuss how DNA information is providing answers to unknowns in the most extreme environments -- from the depths of the oceans to outer space, whether on climate change or astronaut health, or even as a way to store music. The panel will look to the future and explore the impacts of these discoveries and what it means for the future of our planet and humanity.
