SXSW EDU 2020
Throw Out Grades for Better Student Learning
Description:
Assessment the way it is currently done fails many kids. Rather than seek to control students with grades or promote unnecessary competition, schools need to be in the business of communicating real learning and empowering learners to take charge of what they know and can do. A focus on reflection, self-assessment and goal setting can change the way we communicate learning if done well. It's time to stop punishing kids for not playing school.
