SXSW 2020

Liberating Structures for Engineering Teams

Description:

Liberating Structures is a growing collection of 33+ alternative frameworks for facilitating meetings, conversations, and gatherings. Professional facilitators use these as a more inclusive, engaging, and fun alternative to the usual ‘microstructures’ that define most of our gatherings in the workplace: presentations, managed discussions, status reports, open discussions, and brainstorming. By removing the constraints imposed on potential contributors by these various microstructures and adding novel lanes of participation, Liberating Structures empower teams to discover, ideate, and discuss important problems in new ways. In this talk, we’ll learn about (and practice) a few frameworks that can breathe new life to the usual assortment of sprint rituals.
