SXSW 2020
Love in the Robotic Age
Description:
Robots are invading every aspect of our modern lives from our factories to our workplaces to our homes. Many are even hyping the idea of replacing relationships with buxom robo-companions. While the form factor is better suited for sci-fi, the concept could be a premonition of a new wave of machines. Every first world country is experiencing a major demographic shift with an aging baby boomer population. Social scientists are already decrying the lack of caregivers to support this fragile group, accelerating the adoption of technology into the lives of seniors and their families. This panel will deconstruct the human-robot connection and the ethical questions around our new societal structures.
