SXSW 2019
Empathy & Inclusion: Product Dev’s Secret Weapons
Description:
Inclusion in tech -- beyond recruitment and retention -- what about the often undiscussed impact on product development? This session brings together female tech leaders to share their personal journeys and discuss why divergent thought is critical for product development and how to foster inclusion throughout the process. We’ll discuss how an empathy-oriented approach to product development -- from user interviews to supplier diversity programs to internal processes & meeting structures -- drives better end products and bigger impacts, with real-world examples from women who work in (and lead) fast-growing companies. We’ll also cover how companies & orgs like GirlStart can work together to solve the inclusion challenge earlier and help redefine the tech talent pool of tomorrow.
