SXSW 2019

Cryptocurrency: Easy to Do, Hard to Do Right

Description:

Cryptocurrencies and blockchain were some of the most talked about trends in 2018. It’s been exciting to see interest in the space from a variety of brands, like Google, Kik, and Kodak, and even celebrities like the singer Akon. While much progress has been made in the underlying technology, questions still remain – mainly, how will the technology be applied to daily life, and will consumers use it?
This session will share insights on how popular chat app Kik integrated the cryptocurrency Kin to improve its user experience. Laura Newton from Kik will discuss how she created use cases for cryptocurrency in the app and learnings from the integration, while Noa Kessler from Kin will share best practices for building and integrating cryptocurrencies into consumer applications.
