SXSW EDU 2019
Help, Please! Emergency Aid as a Completion Tool
Description:
College costs are rising, policymakers are championing completion efforts and higher education leaders are left to provide students with additional aid to get them to graduation. This sometimes piecemeal funding support has become known as emergency aid. While nearly 80% of campuses provide this aid some form, there is no roadmap to guide these efforts. If emergency aid is becoming the norm, a new policy conversation is needed to respond to and support the unique needs of today’s students.
