OxyContent: Wellness in an Age of Tech Addiction
Description:
After a decade celebrating social media's transformative potential, critics are skeptical of the design philosophy underpinning it. “Persuasive design” techniques built on neuroscience are responsible for feedback loops of constant engagement, leading industry visionaries to promise solutions before losing trust. The next tech frontier involves questioning the persuasive design model — yet, the dopamine rush of social is about to get a strong injection from another space: the world of scripted content. With the launch Snapchat Shows, FB Watch, and IGTV, platforms are pivoting toward premium content models traditionally associated with TV. This panel examines how we may balance new philosophies of tech mindfulness as the lines between content fandom and clickable feed become blurred.
