SXSW 2019
New Tech, New Peril, New Answers: It’s a BHR World
Description:
New technology is awesome. Developments in artificial intelligence, AR/VR, 5G and IoT are paving the way for dramatic and positive global shifts in how we interact, govern and conduct business. But technology can also be rife with peril if we aren’t innovating responsibly. This session will feature discussion by experts in the field of tech and human rights to explore what it means to design technology with human rights in mind. We’ll look at the pitfalls that can come from not considering things like free expression, privacy and security at a ground stage and also explore success stories of companies that have built platforms and services with these considerations in mind.
