SXSW 2019

Innovation in Retail & Purpose: CARE & Olivela

Description:

Using an innovative philanthropic business model, Olivela and the leading global nonprofit humanitarian organization CARE have joined forces to create retail with purpose. Olivela, a luxury fashion retailer, works with nonprofits such as CARE to donate 20% of every purchase toward international girls’ education. Why girls’ education? Education creates opportunity - the opportunity for girls to marry on their own terms and realize their dreams.

As today’s consumers increasingly give loyalty to companies doing good, this model is pioneering the future of philanthropic consumerism. Drawing on this work at the forefront of impact innovation, Stacey and Joyce will discuss their global reach, why it’s important to build social good into business, and the power of sending girls to school.
