SXSW 2019

Igniting Diversity & Propelling Tech On All Sides

Description:

By the time a young woman starts middle school, interest in STEM subjects drops off significantly. Tech industry leaders have the opportunity to grow women’s interest towards future careers in technology, but must start earlier in their lives. Offering experiences that inspire curiosity and the infrastructure to nurture representation and diversity throughout their careers is vital. A 20-year industry veteran, Grace Francisco is a highly respected and passionate proponent of diversity in tech and the empowerment of women. She has developed key diversity programs at Microsoft and Atlassian. At Roblox, she continues her mission to propel diversity and to help over 65 million young, active monthly users (40% in the US are female) to imagine worlds beyond the one they see before them.
