SXSW 2019
All the Lies We Were Taught about the Roman Empire
Description:
Roy Casagranda, PhD (ACC) will dissect and deconstruct the dominant narratives of western history, with particular attention to the history of Rome. He will use this as a basis to demonstrate his hypothesis of the "Four Modernities" and use that to create a more accurate narrative regarding both the Roman Empire's collapse and the foundations of Western civilization. He will unpack the racist paradigms that are propped up by the contemporary interpretations of Rome, Egypt, Greece, and Persia.
