Radical Transparency: VSFS Opens Governments

Description:

In less than a decade, the Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) has grown from a throw-away line in a speech to become the largest digital internship in the world. VSFS is connecting 5,000 U.S. students to 60 federal agencies. This tectonic shift from analog to digital can change the landscape in other countries as well. In mid-July, we spoke to students and parliaments at the Open Government Summit in Tbilisi. We shared the concept of transparent student-government interaction and promised to share the how-to of the code with whichever country steps up first. Our panel will reveal an official and a student from a visionary nation in conversation with us.
