SXSW 2019

The Last Frontier: AgTech Startups in Brazil

Description:

My talk will rapidly pass through the Brazilian economic cycles - from its first commodity export, the Brazil Wood, up to the reasons that led to the amazing record of 117 million tons of soybeans, the world record harvest, in 2018.
How did we overcome US as the largest soybean producer? One of the reasons is the Digital Transformation. The second is that Brazil still has 12% more arable area to expand the agribusiness, contrary to US and Europe which are using their maximum farmlands. I am sure there are creative people in tech, all around, who are not aware of this incredible opportunity to contributing to feed an ever rising world population or just stopping the use of pesticides ou female hormones. Meeting them in Austin next year will be a great chance to let the cat out of the bag.
