SXSW 2019
Shifting: The Black Mom Reality
Description:
This is Mahogany Momology, an online dialog and podcast pertaining to the concerns and carefree parenting of black motherhood. We uplift a mom, provided to us via social media platforms. My co-host and I will initiate a discussion of the daily routine of being a black mother, in today’s society, raising children. As a black mother, there is a revolving shift in the thought process for what’s best for our children. Many ‘outsiders’ are not aware or understand the complexities behind the thought process. Areas of discussion will include but not limited to debunking Black mom myths, raising black boys in the #metoo movement, the rise of homeschooling among black mothers, and african american surrogate pregnancy.
