LUTs for Lights: Controlling Color Space on LEDS
Description:
New LED Lighting technologies offer a wide gamut of color and control through blending saturated and white diodes, however not all manufacturers use the same diodes or color blending algorithms when creating their lights' output. Similar to digital cameras that capture images in different ways due to their image sensor and image processing software, digital lights project different spectrums. ASC Lighting Committee members Tim Kang (Aputure) and Jonathan Miller (SumoLight) will demonstrate how controlling color space on LEDs allows greater consistency and creative control for filmmakers.

Takeaways
- For years LUTS have been applied to digital cameras to create unique color spaces, we can now apply the same principles to LED light fixtures.
- LED fixtures use different diodes and algorithms to create color and white light, applying color spaces allow different fixtures to be used together.
- Color Space control on LEDs will be an essential part of the workflow for using multiple different LED fixtures types and a key creative tool.
