SXSW 2025

Reducing Disparities by Improving Demographic Data Standards

Description:

Current demographic data standards still lead to large numbers of inaccurate, incomplete, or missing data, often because current data standards do not align with how people identify. This lack of accurate and complete data hinders efforts to better understand populations served and act on the disparities that different populations experience. This session will highlight a mixed methods, stakeholder driven approach to develop improved demographic data standards for race, ethnicity, language preference, sexual orientation, gender, disability status, veteran status, and spiritual beliefs.
