SXSW 2025
How to “Future Proof” Marketing with People, Not Tech
Description:
Many tout "Future-Proof Marketing" – GenAI, digital twins and hyper-targeting – as the next great hope for the industry. But these technologies are not the solution, they’re the tools. In the race to innovate and be “cutting edge” it's easy to lose sight of what’s at the center of every product or service offered: people. We’ve got to listen, understand and reward those who are buying, selling and using our products and services. Because true success, whether today or on Mars Substation #88 in 3025, relies more on understanding and empathizing with people than implementing the right tech.

Takeaways
- Tech is a tool, not a cure-all. The next shiny object is nice, but if it doesn’t connect with our users, it's a waste of time and money.
- CMOs are people. So are business leaders. (We know, shocking). Whether you're selling B2B or B2C or B2X2Y, focus on the person, not the P&L.
- Empathy fuels creativity. The more you understand someone, the more you can creatively solve their problems and deliver meaningful solutions.
