AI Adoption in the Job Market: Reality Check on Productivity
Description:
AI tools increasingly have a fixed spot in the workflow of many jobs now. But where can AI make the biggest differences to productivity? Using hundreds of millions of online resumes, our research uses an innovative methodology to measure AI exposure as well as the degree to which AI is being adopted on the labor market. The talk will dive into which jobs have the highest potential for AI use, and where adoption is highest. Importantly for policy makers, understanding where AI exposure is high but adoption is low points to an increased risk of job displacement through external automation.

Takeaways
- Data Scientists have the highest AI exposure as well as adoption rates. People are making themselves more productive in their jobs.
- Jobs like recruiters have low exposure but high adoption rates - those roles are ahead of the game but have limited potential productivity gains.
- Jobs with high exposure but low active adoption need to watch out. They may be automated away instead of people on the job adopting AI.
