Reading Buddies: A Partnership Between the YMCA & UT Austin
Description:
Join us for a discussion about the power of community partnerships. The YMCA of Central Texas and University of Texas at Austin will discuss their collaboration in supporting the reading growth of students in the YMCA afterschool program in Texas. Reading Buddies, a cross-age peer tutoring program, pairs 1st grade student tutees with a 4th or 5th grade tutor. This program supported both academic and social outcomes of students, as children developed key literacy skills while also gaining a new friend.
