SXSW 2025
Rewriting the Playbook for Pro Athletes' Charities
Description:
Former NFL star Anquan Boldin joins Arizona Republic sports reporter Jason Wolf and CharityWatch executive director Laurie Styron to discuss "Mismanagement of the Year." The nationally-acclaimed investigative series exposed systemic waste and mismanagement among charities founded by Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award winners, some of which spend far less than 50 cents of every dollar on actual charity. The groundbreaking report inspired Boldin to co-found Sport For Impact to educate athletes, their families and representatives, and "reinvent sports philanthropy as we know it."
