SXSW 2025

This is not Woke Capitalism, this is the Future of Business

Description:

In recent decades, two paradigms have dominated the economy: money buys power, and companies primarily exist to maximize shareholder value. To be fit for the 21st century, it is time that we seek new economic models that prioritize a company's mission.

In this session, we will discuss which levers we need to redesign to unlock the potential of companies. We will dive into how to build businesses that put purpose and long-term independence at the core of entrepreneurial endeavors and how this serves the company & people, planet and society.

Takeaways

  1. More than the design of specific products or services, what matters most is the deep design (ownership & finance) of the organization itself.
  2. From mission-lock to a new ownership model with earth as sole shareholder – we will learn from pioneers who have long embraced such business models.
  3. The type of companies we look at survive longer and are more stable, they pay their employees better wages – and they score better on ESGs.
