NYC 2100: Resilient Design for Waterfront Cities

Description:

NYC could see 6’ of sea level rise by 2100. Its 500 miles of coastline faces challenges for long-term protections especially for vulnerable & marginalized populations. How can expertise in climate modeling, public policy, urban design & long-term planning create more equitable and resilient neighborhoods? How can these strategies be applied to other cities facing similar climate threats? Panelists will discuss how climate change will impact urban design & land use, identify key policy considerations, tactical solutions to promote future-proof planning, climate justice & resilient design.
