SXSW 2024
The Next Threat From Generative AI: Disinformation Campaigns
Description:
Disinformation undermines trust in our political, social, economic, and scientific institutions, as well as sows or exuberates division within our communities. As we saw on January 6, 2021, in the United States, it leads to real-world harm, including violence and death. The emergence of generative AI technology has increased the ability to create persuasive content at scale, amplifying and circulating disinformation online. In this talk, we will discuss how adversaries are leveraging generative AI to create harmful content, possible mitigation techniques, and paths forward.
