SXSW 2023

Harnessing the Power of Grief

Description:

Culturally America sucks at grief, and it’s time to change that. Rituals are known to help people find ways to integrate their grief, but the only commonplace rituals we have are either the funeral or the urn. We either limit the celebration of our loved ones to a single moment in time, or confining them to a fixed relic. While grief is complicated, it’s also a process filled with beauty and the potential to inspire if approached with an open mind.

This panel will feature a discussion on how to integrate loss into your life (not make it go away) and stay connected with those we’ve lost and change the cultural conversation around death, featuring NFL star Aaron Jones, Mark Cuban and Eterneva CEO Adelle Archer.

Takeaways

  1. When a loved one is lost we should not have to “move on,” we should be able to move forward and honor them in a meaningful way.
  2. American culture puts a taboo on grief, but shifting the cultural conversation around death can turn a devastating loss into a positive way forward.
  3. Beyond providing a way to memorialize, Eterneva provides a connection around the diamond creation journey, designed to bring healing and comfort.
