SXSW EDU 2023

Reimagining & Reframing Culture in Education

Description:

A reimagining of asset-based/design pedagogical approaches rooted in cultural practices & ideologies. Although culturally relevant, culturally response, and culturally sustaining pedagogy have either been used interchangeably or viewed as mere extensions of the same thought, this new framework treats them as separate, but equally valuable notions that must all be active in order to truly utilize students’ cultural identities to positively contribute to their academic/socio-emotional development.
