SXSW 2023
Designing A Mental Health Ecosystem for All
Description:
Nearly 50 million adults in the United States experienced some form of mental illness in 2022, and more than half of them received no treatment for their conditions. Seeking mental health care today can feel like being trapped in a labyrinth without a map. Individuals in crisis are trafficked between emergency rooms, group care settings, psychiatric wards, and even incarceration and the streets. Panelists will use a human-centered design lens to rethink our current system and envision a more equitable, accessible future of mental health care. We have the knowledge and the tools to drastically improve the mental health situation in the US– what we need is willpower and imagination.
