SXSW 2023
Food As Medicine Meet Up
Description:
We’ve got a fever and the prescription is…produce? Eating more fruits and vegetables is the simplest path to a vibrant future and longer life but still, most people don't get anywhere near the recommended daily servings. Poor nutrition is linked to chronic diseases like obesity, heart disease and diabetes, impacting 6 in 10 Americans and costing billions of dollars in care annually. Beyond the economic impact, poor nutrition is a public health issue and should be addressed as such. What is the medicine to poor nutrition? Food. Delicious, fresh, food. Fruits and vegetables to be specific. This session is for lovers of fresh food, especially those in the health, food, government, marketing & education communities. Let's talk about changing the world by changing how we eat.
