SXSW 2023
Injecting Creativity Into Public Advocacy
Description:
More than one million Uyghur Muslims and other Turkic and Muslim majority peoples are currently arbitrarily detained in concentration camps and forced labor facilities across China. Manufacturers, designers, brands, and consumers — virtually the entire apparel industry — are tainted by such forced labor. To help the public understand this uncomfortable truth, the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) has spearheaded innovative campaigns including a viral guerilla poster campaign and an interactive Google Chrome extension plug-in.
In this podcast episode, two experts will discuss the Uyghur genocide, HRF’s public education campaigns, and creative ways to combat the Chinese government’s exploitation and abuse.
