SXSW 2023
Reimagining Cities: Civic Engagement w/ Minecraft
Description:
Fostering civic engagement and catalyzing public support around key issues is a central issue in our fight against climate change. Minecraft has become a novel, fun, and accessible way to engage young people to learn more and propose solutions to our most challenging problems, while building momentum around real world activities. Every year, students and teachers around the world join Minecraft build challenges, which channel student creativity for prompts like ‘creating peace with nature’ and ‘designing more sustainable infrastructure’. These programs leverage the Minecraft gaming platform to raise young people’s voices on issues like the climate crisis and drive real world impact.
