SXSW 2023
The Future of Chemically Derived Cannabinoids
Description:
Delta 9 THC and CBD are two popular cannabinoids on the market today, they are also naturally occurring from the cannabis plant. What you might not know is that you can also create them chemically thanks to a chemistry process referred to as synthesis. To some, that type of manufacturing is considered questionable due to the many different ways to go about production, sometimes classified as "bathtub chemistry". But on the other hand, if done efficaciously, it mimics pharmaceuticals and can provide cannabinoid production consistently at scale. While this practice isn't new in science, it is a new application for cannabis manufacturing. This talk will introduce in depth the idea of chemically derived cannabinoids and what impact that will have on widespread cannabis adoption.
