SXSW 2023

Investing in Inclusion: Women Funders and Founders

Description:

In the midst of turbulent times, with public market volatility and heightened geopolitical tensions, the state of women in venture capital (VC) on both the investor and startup side remains encouraging. Though there is still a long way to go, the infrastructure needed to continue growth and investment into women at VC firms and women-founded companies is solidifying. In 2021 alone, companies founded solely by women garnered 2.4% of the total capital invested in venture-backed startups in the US, but that number doesn’t tell the whole story. This panel will provide a unique prospective into the current state of women founders and funders, an outlook on what to expect in the coming year and a deep dive into the policies and infrastructure needed to keep expanding investment into women.
