SXSW 2023

Technology will Solve the Sustainability Data Gap

Description:

The era of impact transparency for business has arrived. Business can no longer hide behind walls of opaque structures and only report on their financials. Stakeholders across the board are demanding more transparency - consumers, employees, shareholders. But ultimately upcoming government regulations will force all companies to report on their environmental and social impact. But even companies with the best intentions find this difficult - the current way of measuring a product's impact is via a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), but these take up to 6 months and cost in excess of $30K per product, so are not a scalable solution. Companies need to embrace technology solutions that rapidly and accurately approximate the impact through their supply chain at scale.
