SXSW 2023
The Kids Are Not Alright: How Tech Can Help
Description:
With a 51 percent increase in suicide attempts by teen girls and the reality that LGBTQ youth are six times more likely to experience depression, finding ways to support young people struggling with mental health issues has become even more urgent. Social innovation labs are responding with investments that reflect the tech and gaming youth love as well creating accelerators designed to help start-ups meet the moment. In this session, you will hear from funders at HopeLab and Headstream about investments in new digital tools and interventions being developed for teens and young adults. You will also meet HopeBound, a mental health non-profit providing virtual mental health services for Atlanta youth. HopeBound is a graduate of the Fast Forward non-profit tech accelerator.
