SXSW 2023
Ethical AI and State & Local Governments
Description:
Currently, there is tremendous interest form the private, public, and academic sectors regarding implementing ethical AI in state and local governments. We have seen this through the significant interest with our Smart Hand Tools project, and other projects, from the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Governments want to know the ethical and policy implications of AI, and private industry is keen to work on these issues with the public sector and academia. There are many challenges facing state and local governments, from aging infrastructure to housing to the impacts of a changing climate, and there are many potential benefits that AI can offer. These can include expanding employment opportunities, optimizing allocation of scarce resources, and planning new building projects.
