SXSW 2023
Color of Biodiversity: Designing Nature + Futures
Description:
How can we design biodiversity positive futures? By coloring outside the lines.
Color is a catalyst for change. Can we use the power of color to trigger our love for nature?
Is fostering biodiversity the solution to climate change?
Brands and organizations came together to use the power of color for good:
To educate on biodiversity loss through a novel Pantone color release in support of United Nations Biodiversity.
They proved that through care and collaboration, we can design networks between people, business and nature. We can challenge power structures, environmental racism, and not only offer a seat at the table, but also design new ways of getting to the table.
Learn to collaborate with nature.
Leave with the tools to launch your own world changing idea through color.

Takeaways
- Designers have the ability and power to create ‘biodiversity positive’ processes, products and services.
- Consumers can use their purchasing power to choose those ‘biodiversity positive’ offerings, thus exercising influence on the market.
- If we can influence designers and consumers through color, and instil an understanding of the importance of biodiversity, we can make a change.
