Tobacco & Social Justice: Expose & Demand Change


The tobacco industry has a long history of aggressively targeting Black communities with predatory marketing. The history of systemic racism continues to intensify and put the health of Black people at risk while the FDA considers an historic menthol ban. To expose the racist tactics & address the proliferation of menthol among Black communities, Truth Initiative is raising the voices of young activists & Black filmmakers to demand change.

  1. Attendees will learn about the tobacco industry’s exploitation & infiltration of Black culture and communities, including the weaponizing of menthol.
  2. Attendees will hear from Black activists, influencers and policy leaders who are on the front lines to expose these tactics and demand change.
  3. Attendees will learn how to help stop the decades-long assault that tobacco companies have waged on communities of color.
