SXSW 2022

The $5T Opportunity: Gender Parity in Tech

Description:

Since the founding of the New York Stock Exchange in 1817, fewer than 40 companies have been taken public by a woman—one woman roughly every 7 years. While this is just one indicator, it’s glaring: we have not made enough progress toward equality in workplace leadership. Backing women means more than allocating capital to female founders—it's support for lifestyle choices, dismantling of biased networks, normalizing parental leave (for men and women), and taking action in getting women into authority roles—especially in industries dominated by men, like tech. Agreeing that we need to fund more women is just the first step. This panel of women—founders and funders—will share their differing takes on what it’s going to take to get more women leaders in tech.
