SXSW 2022

The Changing State of Veterinary Telemedicine

Description:

Healthcare went digital in 2020. Due to COVID-19, telemedicine became swiftly adopted as continuous care remained an imperative while stay at home orders kept us inside. Simultaneously, pet adoptions skyrocketed, with 23M households acquiring a pet during lockdown. This boom quickly caused a veterinary care shortage, as appointment wait times neared 6 weeks, & chronic conditions facing our pets went untreated. With so much modernization in the human healthcare system, why hasn’t the same innovation become commonplace for our four-legged family members? In this panel, leading experts across veterinary medicine & digital health will discuss the challenges facing the changing veterinary landscape and why now is the time to advocate for its normalization as we deal with a pet anxiety crisis.
