SXSW 2022
Microgravity: The Commercial Case for R AND D
Description:
Microgravity provides a unique environment for research and development of products in many industries. Access to space-based platforms is increasing, and options for short- and long-duration microgravity opportunities are improving with new space vehicles and approaches. Just as new services emerged around the wide-spread availability of motorized transportation, space services are emerging that enable turn-key microgravity experiences. Until recently, space-based science platforms have been hindered with long lead times, uncertain scheduling, complicated packaging, and difficult sample recoveries. Today, new commercial space ventures are breaking down these barriers and untethering new markets from the bonds of gravity.
