SXSW 2022
Blockchain in the Bronx-Helping America's Unbanked
Description:
There is no question that blockchain's borderless nature has paved the way for a myriad of crypto products to help the 1.7 billion adults across the globe who are unbanked or underbanked. The impact to the estimated 55 million in the United States has not been as robust, but investments in key projects to foster financial inclusion for Americans who lack access to the traditional financial system are growing and thriving. During this session, speakers will discuss Electric Coin Company’s "Crypto in Context" program, a partnership with Bronx Community College in New York City, to bolster economic empowerment in communities that have historically been locked out of centralized finance in the U.S.
