SXSW 2022
Art + Activism: The Immigrant Experience
Description:
Artists have long been at the forefront of the movement for immigration. During the pandemic, it was vivid storytelling provided by artists through videos, murals, and paintings exposing the important role immigrants play in our society. These stories have been shared by millions, and now as the U.S recovers, Art and activism will now tell the complicated and positive stories that will help achieve justice for immigrants. This session will be a deep dive into how art can be used to tell these stories effectively, and why these stories need to be told. In this panel, you will hear from immigration experts, artist-activists, and immigrants on how art and artists can create opportunities for everyone in our country to be healthy and have the freedom to thrive
