SXSW 2021

Creating Happiness in the Workplace Through Design

Description:

We are living in times that represent the most substantive change in centuries, yet we find ourselves facing record-breaking rates of depression. Over 300 million people suffer from depression globally, and mental health costs are expected to hit $6 trillion by 2030. As we transition back into workplace, hospitality, healthcare, residential, and retail environments, we must ensure that our human needs are met: connection, empathy, freedom, well-being, and happiness. This session will explore how happiness can be prioritized through design. The session also aims at unearthing The Happiness Ecosystem Index (HEI)—an index created by CRTKL that is based on the sciences of happiness and design, and includes five principles of happiness: meaning, vitality, freedom, engagement, and delight.
