SXSW 2021
How AdTech Is Championing Diversity in Tech
Description:
Let’s be honest – the advertising industry isn’t very diverse. The lack of representation among brands, agencies, and vendors contribute to why some tone-deaf campaigns find their way to market. Less than 6% of the workforce is African American, meaning there’s an immediate need for broader conversations about building a more inclusive ecosystem. More than others, young people of color need a breadth of knowledge and skills to make up for an assortment of structural disadvantages and unconscious bias in the hiring process. Hear from three expert leaders what urgently needs to change to foster opportunity for people of color breaking into adtech, how professional mentorship shaped their careers, and what they wish they knew before getting their start.
