SXSW 2021

A Photon Walks into a Bar

Description:

Climate change is the backdrop of our lives and one of the moral crises of the century, a globe-spanning force reshaping how we work, how we play, how we shop, and how we vote. Experts agree – we need to act on climate change, and quickly. But how?

Solar energy is generally understood to be a crucial piece of our future energy matrix, but there’s still work to be done before solar energy displaces coal as the cheapest fuel source on the planet. With the typical solar panel having 20% efficiency, there is a lot to be gained by improving upon this existing technology. In this talk, Frank van Mierlo will explain the paths forward toward a net-zero emissions future, which include tandem solar, and describe his compelling vision for a better, cleaner world.
