SXSW 2021

Streaming & The Antifragile Entertainment Economy

Description:

Entertainment as we know is being restructured. COVID-19 forced the entertainment industry to adapt to digital video and streaming. While 2020 paused production studios, theaters, live events, and more, streaming has become the driving force to keep the entertainment economy alive and positioned for growth. As video streaming accelerates, the new entertainment economy will be increasingly agile to withstand future asymmetrical shocks. Can video streaming players continue to build a supportive infrastructure that meets the needs of the entertainment economy? This panel will discuss how streaming has become the lifeline of the antifragile entertainment economy, the role durable networks played in shifting viewer behavior and expectations, and evaluate the industry’s challenges and future.
