SXSW EDU 2021
Black Presence Matters in Higher Education
Description:
Anti-Blackness is pervasive and persistent and the underrepresentation of Black professors at institutions of higher learning feeds broader society’s perception of Black people. As the pandemic shifted education online, the online presence of Black professors became increasingly urgent. As professors, we discuss the importance of Black representation in faculty within the context of the global pandemic, protests for racial justice and an unstable economy.
